Scholarships
The Department of Computer Science, at the Faculty of
Engineering, The University of Hong Kong, has made available two scholarships
for the academic year of 2011-2012 to support outstanding Chinese graduates
normally residing in the People's Republic of China, except Hong Kong S.A.R. and
Macau S.A.R., to undertake
full-time study at HKU in either the Master of Science in Electronic Commerce
and Internet Computing Programme [MSc(ECom&IComp)] or the Master of Science in
Computer Science Programme [MSc(CS)].
This set of guidelines deals with the scholarships for the former, the Master of
Science in Electronic Commerce and Internet Computing Programme [MSc(ECom&IComp)].
Guidelines

The scholarships shall be known as The China Postgraduate Scholarships for
Electronic Commerce and Internet Computing.

The scholarships are to be awarded to those who have successfully applied and
been offered a place in the Master of Science in Electronic Commerce and
Internet Computing Programme as full-time students in Hong Kong.

The number of scholarships and value of each scholarship are subject to
adjustments as determined by the Selection Committee.

The maximum number of scholarships for 2013-14 is thirty, of the maximum
value of HK$50,000 each.

The scholarships shall be used to meet part of the composition fees for a
full-time programme of studies leading to the degree of Master of
Science in Electronic Commerce and Internet Computing. The composition fee for
taking 12 modules in 2013-14 is HK$129,600.

The scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of: a. academic merit;
b. financial needs; and c. personal qualities

In any year when candidates are judged to be of
insufficient merit, no award will be made.
Administrative arrangements

The scholarships will be awarded by a selection
committee comprising:
a. The Head of the Department of Computer Science
b. The Programme Director
c. One Associate Programme Director
The decision of the Selection Committee will be final.

Applications for the scholarships must be submitted at
the same time as applications to enrol in the Programme.

Applicants will be required to submit a written
application using the appended form, stating their
a. academic merit;
b. financial needs; and
c. personal qualities

Interview by telephone or in a face-to-face meeting may
be necessary.

Confirmation of the scholarship will be subject to the
applicant being admitted to the Programme.

The scholarships shall be used directly to meet part of
the programme composition fee.

Students will be asked to reimburse the Department of
Computer Science should they withdraw from the full-time programme.
