Community Bonding
"Community bonding" is not something you lose when you say
goodbye to your classmates on the Graduation Ceremony. Community bonding is the
enduring feeling of shared values and intellectual standards, of mutual respect,
and of common experience that makes our alumni network so strong.
When you have enrolled with us, you are joining a community:
-
You get to meet and interact with fellow students,
graduates, instructors and also industry people.
-
You will be engaged in projects, where you will get to
know your fellow students, pool your skills together to turn in good work,
learn about their jobs and their perspectives on the topics inside and
outside the modules.
-
You can also join the Alumni Association as an associate
member and take part in their social and academic activities, learn from
them the tactics of more effective studying, and even get some of them to be
your mentors.
-
You are treated as a mature responsible professional by
our instructors, and are welcome to volunteer your opinion on many of the
topics taught, using your own experience and business perspectives.
-
You can listen to business and industry experts invited
to speak to you in class or in seminars or forums specially arranged by the
Programme Office or the Alumni Association.
-
To broaden your outlook, so that you don't feel that you
are learning from books and set topics, the Programme Office will bring to
your attention any worthwhile and interesting events in Hong Kong or the
University, and our instructors will also share with you their other
expertise besides what you are learning from them as module topics.
-
After you graduate, you are not forgotten. By becoming a
member of the Alumni Association, you continue to enjoy lots of benefits
provided by the Association and by the Programme Office. For example, the
Alumni Association has a career page, where interesting and exciting jobs
will be advertised there. If the Programme Office runs new modules, you can
come in to study at a terrific discount.
-
When you join the Programme, you are actually joining a
lifelong community, where you can continue to keep in touch with your fellow
students, keep abreast with developing technologies and business trends.

I joined the MSc in Electronic Commerce and Internet
Computing (MEICOM) Alumni Association committee in 2004 and was appointed as the
president of the Alumni Association early this year.
I applied for the programme as early as 1999 when it was first launched. However
I didn't succeed until 2003. After I started my MEICOM life and joined the
alumni, I then realized that most of the students enrolled in 1999 were of high
caliber. They are senior executives of multi-national organizations such as Head
of IT, marketing director, entrepreneur. Nowadays, many of them are still
actively participating in our alumni activities.
|
 |
This master programme will not only enrich your professional knowledge but also
widen your social network. Through joining the alumni activities, you can meet
professionals with different backgrounds and working experience. Over the past
few years, the MEICOM alumni association has grown into an organisation to be
proud of. We have formed networks with fellow alumni through regular social
gatherings. If you are interested in becoming a member of our association, we
invite you to attend one of our monthly activities to find out more from us.
Look forward to meeting you soon!Adrian Ho
